More from the Shoreman

Yep, gonna put him in the "Daily Read"...

American males, whose behavior and inclinations have been taboo since 1973, would see their testosterone-laden masculinity restored to its natural relevance. Most importantly, the sissy-pants Neville Chamberlain "peace process," UN-loving twitterpates would fall silent in slack-jawed horror that violence really does end violence.

Too bad his/their comments is set to "teammembers only" That's o.k. You can leave comments here. In fact, I wish you would! Did you see the "Doonsbury" comic the other day? The one where GW was thinking of appointing Karl Rove to the USC? Do it George! Just for the comic relief of watching the left vapor lock and fall over. Hmm... I think they might just turn into splodey's and that would be GRRRRREAT for America!

Conservatives, Guns, and Drugs

Via The War on Guns, Sheldon Richman explains why the "war on drugs" is an important issue to gun owners. Quoting Sheldon,

"That case begins by noting that, as the Constitution is constructed, the federal government may exercise only the powers expressly delegated in Article I, Section 8. If the Constitution is silent on a matter, that matter is left to the states or to the people, according to the Tenth Amendment. One does not look first at the Bill of Rights to determine whether individuals should be free from federal restraint. One looks at the enumerated powers. If a claimed power is not there, the feds are sidelined. "
Yeh... Again, they teach the children so well these days. The problem is, they have more and better guns than we do. After all, Waco was nothing more than the FedGov thinking some people hadn't paid a $200.00 tax. Borrowing from John Ross, "You ever owe the IRS $200.00? I have!" Hell, I "owe" more than that this year, and have to make monthly payments to them to keep the JBT's away. Go read Sheldons blog, then come back here, and post me some comments. I think I may have to put his blog on the "Daily Read" list.

Deputize Minute men?

Lou Dobbs Tonight -- CNN -- July 29 Culberson: The bill that I have filed with 46 co-sponsors is based on the longest and most honored tradition in America, and that is law abiding citizens stepping forward as volunteers...my bill, HR 3622...authorizes a national militia, a lawful group of citizens, volunteers, deputized to serve under the governors, to serve under the direction of local and state law enforcement officials to enforce the law and protect our borders....
The law is ALREADY THERE! You dumb fucks! Every state governor already has the constitutionally correct authority to call out the militia to protect itself from invasion. The militia is defined in the United States Code. Go look it up yourself, asshat! If I just tell you, you won't believe me, anyway. Holy shit, Batman... You mean to tell me that the people are the militia? In the words of Homer Simpson, "Do'h!" This is only ONE of the reasons for the 2nd Amendment. We the people are the ones with the Right and the Duty, to protect ourselves, both at the personal level, and the state level. If our borders are not being enforced by the fed government, then that responsibility devolves to the state Governor. If s/he won't do it, then it devolves to the people. Some obviously understand this... Too bad those are not the ones in elected positions. The minute men are shameing those that need shamed. Thus the cries of "vigilante." We seem to be putting the biggest dumbfucks in office, these days... "I'll put forth a new bill... Fuck all the old laws, no body knows them anyway..." Sondra is having a meme game

Post in her comments "Use Hillary! as an adjective." babalu blew away the competition with this...

With apologies to the immortal Bard: ~~~~~~~ To Hillary, or not to Hillary, that is the question, Whether ‘tis nobler in the mind to suffer The slings and arrows of outrageous Hillary, Or to take arms against a sea of Hillaries, And by opposing, end them: to die, to sleep, No more; and by a sleep, to say we end The Hillaries, and the thousand Bill-Hillaries That flesh is heir to; ‘tis an unHillary Devoutly to be wished. To die, to sleep, To sleep, perchance to dream, ay there’s the Hill. For in that sleep of dreams, what Hillaries may come When we have shuffled off this stupid Hillary Must give us pause – there’s the respect That makes calamity of so much Hillary: For who would bear the lies and crimes of Hillary, The schemer’s plots, the elitist’s snubs, The legs of a grand piano, the serpent eyes, The “insolence of office,” and the shames That patient public of the Hillary takes, When he might his Hillary make With a bare Monica; who would BJs bear, To smile and campaign under a fallen star, But that the dread of something after the Senate, The unredeemable country, from whose Hillary No patriot returns, puzzles the will, And makes us rather bear the Bush we now have, Than fly to Hillaries we know well of. Thus Hillary doth make victims of us all, And thus the native hue of honesty Is sicklied o’er with the pox of Hillary, And experiments of noble goal and purpose, With this Hillary their White House make crimson, And lose the name of honor. Soft you now, The Hildebeast – Beyotch, in thy cauchemares Be my Constitution remembered. (Hamlet III, iii, 56-89) ~~ Or, more simply put by Norfolk, Hillary me no Hillaries!
This is just too rich... Got to save it for the '08 election cycle!

Overheared at Rogers house,

"...I remember the news item about the Tennessee legislature (or, maybe it was just the Memphis city council?) dealing with the issue of flag burning. They made beating people who burned the American flag a misdemeanor, with a fine of about $1."
Hmmm... I got a dollar... Are there discounts available? you know, 3 for 2, 7 for 3, etc. Can you buy the tickets in advance? This could be fun! Oh, yeah, what Roger was saying...
"Elected politicians are immune from reckless behavior in Britain, and the United States. It's silly to expect lawmakers to enable the lynching of themselves, but what's wrong with giving the act scofflaw status (pay attention here Jim McDermott) ? I mean, all effected are liberals, and conservatives control congress."
AHHH! The true reason politicos want to ban guns! But we already knew that... It's been said in the past, and bears repeting. "Only to kinds of people fear guns in the hands of law abiding Citizens... criminals and polititions." Judge Sutter, call your office. Picture by Oleg Volk No question how he'd vote a 2nd amendment case, what with the way people are taking the "kelo v. new london" decision. Bet he doesn't go hunting alone this year. Rogers whole post is good... Go read it. Click the title of this post for the link.

@ The Smallest Minority, What is a right?

Being new to blogging, I tend to peruse other blogs that tend to speak to my prejudices... While going through the sidebar at The Smallest Minority, I found an essay that Kevin wrote discussing "rights." Now, I know we all have different thoughts on what "Rights" are... Some think only in terms of what is in the Bill of Rights USC. Some think that anything they want they have a "Right" to. I've been concidering this a long time. When I moved from Pensylvania to north east Ohio about 8 years ago, I went down to the local Sheriffs office and inquired about CCW permits. They looked at me as if I was from Pluto. In fact, I might as well have been. They asked my if I was carrying a gun, and (duh) I said "No," ( I only LOOK like a total idiot). They then informed me that there was no way to carry in Ohio, and that there never would be. Long story short, I got active. Became an NRA certified instructor, worked petition drives, got active in my local and county party politics, called my state reps and sens regularly, went to see them both at home and in Columbus. Ohio now has shall issue CHL. Some of the rules suck, but better than before. Any way, Kevin discusses the question "What is a Right?" He mentions some dictionary defs. and quotes R.A. Heinline in Starship Troopers. The part of his excelent post that hit me the most was

So, what of the "right to keep and bear arms?" Like all "Rights of the People" the right to arms is a social construct - a declaration by a society of what is "right and proper," and generally agreed to by the population. A society is, by definition, a group with similar beliefs.
Kevin, as much as I love reading your stuff, here I must take exception. (Oh, no! that was a "but"). My "Rights" to arms or any other property (real, money, time, labor, breathing) are not part of nor subject to ANY SOCIAL CONSTRUCT! All rights flow from the FUNDAMENTAL RIGHT of life. My rights are only bound by the fence of not infringing on the similar rights of another. My having a gun in no way infringes another unless and until I invade another persons life I.e. robbing them or some other invasion of their life. Defensive use of a gun only follows the first law of nature, which is To Survive. This is going WAY too long. Rights are that which I can justly say no other person has ANY claim to. My Life. Enough for now, This kind of thinking out keyboard is one of the reasons I started this blog. My head hurts.

Saysunkle has a link to a report on victim injury vs.defensive use of a weapon. THE most telling quote is near the end.

"Various kinds of forceful victim protective behavior, such as threatening the offender with a gun or other weapon, show the strongest negative coefficients, though none are significant. A conservative interpretation would be that armed and other forceful resistance does not appear to increase the victim’s risk of injury."

Translation = Use a gun to protect yourself from an attacker, you are LESS likely to sustain an injury. (Duh) More for the GFW's to ignore...

GFW's are liars? ...Imagin that.

David over at Arms and the Law has posted a link to a story about the Brady Campaign falsly using Sheriffs' signatures on letters of congrssional testimony. Waiting for charges of contempt of congrss... ...still waiting... ...yawn... Hmph

And we pay this guy HOW MUCH!?!

I read this the other day over at SondraK's before I started this blog. In fact, this statement had a lot to do with me starting this blog. Needing to rant to a larger audience

"It's a tabula rasa. It's a whole new ballgame. The Supreme Court is far different than the court of appeals. The Supreme Court makes law." —Sen. Charles Schumer, Democrat of New York (emphasis mine)

The heat is rising... This dragon is starting to steam.

Oh, that'sright... no Civics 101 any more. HEY ASSHAT! If the USC makes law, get yer ass outa Wash DC. you are superfolous(sp?)! We don't need you anymore, and we can't afford to pay you. In the words of the Donald... You're Fired Now, GET THE FUCK OUT! (Tip of the tam to SondraK and Roger)

O.K. now what

This is going to be interesting. I just get so STEAMING ANGRY at fools that use "feelings " as a point in an argument. You know the type... "That may be true, but I feel..." Now, this upsets me because I cannot argue points against feelings and I cannot introduce him or her to new feelings via a 2x4 upside their pointy heads! Stress is the body reacting to the mind preventing you from chokeing the living shit out of someone that realy needs it! How do I talk to someone like that? I don'tcare what they feel. I am to the point that walking away just increases my blood preasure. What to do, what to do... oh well, mind cleansing time... I'll start at Sondra K's
